Local producer Versatile has just released an official remix of “Love Sex Magic” by Ciara featuring Justin Timberlake. The beatsmith is one of only a handful of producers permitted by Ciara’s record label, Jive, to put out an official remix of the song that was released about a month ago and got as high as No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Versatile also has produced two songs on Black Flag City (The New Religion), an upcoming album by Maino, who had a national hit a couple of months back called “Hi, Hater.” Visit www.myspace.com/versatile123. … Don’t forget to tune into NBC‘s Chuck on Mon., April 13, to hear “The Earth Has Lost Its Hold” by Fort Worth’s Calhoun. The song is one of several that will be featured on the hour-long comedy that airs at 7 p.m. Visit www.myspace.com/calhoun.

…. Minor quibble: On the new Red Dirt comp CD by KFWR/95.9-FM The Ranch, 20 artists are featured, but only one is from Fort Worth, the Kyle Bennett Band. One song, though, by Walt Wilkins, is about Fort Worth (“Going Up To Fort Worth“). Admittedly, the Fort isn’t awash in Red Dirt music: basically, Texas Music but with a rocking edge. Still, I’d like to think that for a radio station based deep in the heart of Cowtown, a couple more bones could have been thrown some Fort Worthians’ ways; like, say, Joey Green‘s or Jordan Mycoskie‘s or Stephen Pointer‘s. The CD is available only online, and proceeds from the $13 sticker price will benefit several local charitable organizations. Visit http://959theranch.com. … Speaking of Kyle Bennett, his new album, Grey Sunrise, is available at www.lonestarmusic.com. … Local countrified rockers 100 Damned Guns have just released a new album, Musica de Tormento, and while a copy hasn’t landed in my grubby mitts — yet — the tunes and the album are available for sampling and download at www.txmfrecords.com. … The good news: The lounge at Eddie V’s Prime Seafood, the fancy restaurant that just opened at the intersection of Camp Bowie Boulevard and West 7th Street, is featuring live jazz every night. The bad: As far as I can tell, only two of the seven acts booked throughout April, the B Sharp Trio and the Jonathan Sanson Trio, are from Fort Worth. The rest appear to be from out of town — two are from Austin. Oh, well. There’s always local legend Johnny Case at Sardine’s Ristorante Italiano (509 University Dr.) right down the street, where he’s been holding court every night for the past 25 years. … Hey, Dillon: The Last Great DJ is a docudrama revolving around Brett Dillon, a DJ for independent North Texas radio station KHYI/95.3-FM The Range, who might very well be the last of his kind — most music we hear on terrestrial radio is selected by human-hating robots. (Just kidding. It’s selected by human-hating computers.) The Tejas Brothers (look to your left), Walt Wilkins, Darryl Lee Rush, and other Texas Music artists will be featured in the film whose world premiere is on Sun., May 31, at Granada Theater (3524 Greenville Ave., Dallas). The DVD is available for purchase at Amazon.com and at the film’s web site, www.heydillon.com. Hey, Dillon is McKinney filmmaker Dean J. Augustin‘s fifth movie.
