the_show_1A couple of native sons are rubbing elbows with some big names in the comedy scene these days, and they’re in town this week performing for us local yokels. Guitarist Eric Knudson and comic Alex Reymundo grew up in Hurst and have known each other since attending L.D. Bell High School in the early 1980s.

Last year, Reymundo’s first stand-up comedy special, Hick-Spanic: Live in Albuquerque, appeared on Showtime and Comedy Central, and he began touring with Blue Collar comedian Ron White, a.k.a. “Tatersalad.” Knudson, a rock’n’roll guitarist and frontman with EKG, provided music for Reymundo’s special and then began working with Tatersalad as well. Knudson’s original and self-produced song “Lil Ditty” is being used in an upcoming Tatersalad comedy special, Behavioral Problems, set for release this month.

Reymundo is about to begin filming a second comedy special; fans can see a dress rehearsal of that performance this weekend at Hyena’s in Arlington. EKG will open both shows.
