When is Sarah Palin going to learn? If she plans on representing the GOP in the future she needs to stop talking. Besides having the most annoying voice since Fran Drescher, Palin is revealing a thin-skinned ignorance that isn’t becoming of a potential leader.

The latest example is her recent feud with David Letterman. First, she took offense to his “Top 10 Highlights of Sarah Palin’s Trip To New York,” which included a joke that she “bought makeup at Bloomingdale’s to update her ‘slutty flight attendant’ look.”

Palin did a radio interview and said Letterman’s list was “pretty pathetic” and lamented that he didn’t talk about the fact that part of her trip was devoted to an autism event she attended. “Just doing some good things here for the good people of New York,” she chirped in her inimitable manner.

Letterman has been badgering Palin ever since she hit the political scene because that’s what he does. He’s mocked politicos for two decades. He took it a step too far after Palin and her family attended a Yankees game. “During the seventh inning her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez,” he joked.

As it turns out, the 18-year-old daughter who is a single mom didn’t accompany Palin on her trip to New York. The Alaskan governor was accompanied by her 14-year-old daughter. It was obvious which daughter Letterman was talking about, but Palin, in an attempt to play the victim and mislead others, responded this way in a statement on Wednesday:

“Concerning Letterman’s comments about my young daughter (and I doubt he’d ever dare make such comments about anyone else’s daughter): Laughter incited by sexually perverted comments made by a 62-year-old male celebrity aimed at a 14-year-old girl is not only disgusting, but it reminds us some Hollywood/NY entertainers have a long way to go in understanding what the rest of America understands — that acceptance of inappropriate sexual comments about an underage girl, who could be anyone’s daughter, contributes to the atrociously high rate of sexual exploitation of minors by older men who use and abuse others.”

Late night comedians say unfunny, perverted things for shock value because that’s what some Americans enjoy late at night in this land of free speech. For a potential GOP candidate for president to get sucked into this debate, manipulate the facts, and play the victim just shows she isn’t leadership material.

  1. Exactly!! Very well said. Palin, ONCE AGAIN, used one of her kids to try and score political points. They knew dang well he was talking about Bristol (the unwed teenage mother) but THEY decided to use Willow and the word “rape” to get the “rabid right” all fired up.
    What a lousy mother.

  2. “Palin, ONCE AGAIN , used one of her kids to try and score political points.”——— Come on; try to be fair and have a little empathy. Letterman used Palin’s daughter first for sick laughs, and she responded with disgust. That is a normal reaction from any parent.

And about the daughter mix-up; Perhaps Letterman should do a little research before he tells his jokes. This little error just makes him look ignorant and unprofessional.

Oh, and she is a “lousy mother”? She choose to have a child that she knew would be mentally disabled. Now that is unselfish love. Most people would have exterminated the child, a la the Nazis.

Whether you are pro-life or pro-abortion you have to respect a politician who talks the talk and walks the walk. And Palin certainly did on this issue.

  3. I would be a lot more impressed at Palin’s decision to keep the disabled child if she actually took care of him herself.

It is obvious that the care is foisted off onto Bristol and Willow.

Palin is quick to use him as well as the other kids to score political points.

  4. So the daughters help with the child. Well, that is what families do, they take care of one another. They don’t just sit back and let the government take care of them.
