The Revolution Will Be Texted

Some combo of marching and rioting appeared to continue through the streets of major Iranian cities today after the suspicious “landslide” reelection of Ahmadinejad against his seemingly more moderate opponent Moussavi. The creepy supreme cleric Khameini had cut off cell phone and texting services, but not enough to stop violent, authority-defying images from flying out to the world on countless blogs, MySpace, Facebook, and YouTube. Say what you want about the frivolous aspects of the internet – and I think very highly of them – but methinks today, a new ad slogan was born: “YouTube: It’s Not Just for Dancing Cats Anymore.”
