Leave it to Slick Willy to smooth talk the batty Kim Jong Il into releasing two American jornos. Laura Ling and Euna Lee, who were arrested back on March 17, were released as a sign of N. Korea’s “humanitarian and peace-loving policy,” according to the Korean Central News Agency. The agency reported that Clinton apologized on behalf of the two journalists, and his visit would “contribute to deepening the understanding” between the two nations.

Clinton swooped in unannounced and met with the stroked-out N. Korean leader, and engaged in what they’re calling “exhaustive talks,” before the two ladies were pardoned. Clinton’s informal diplomatic mission marks the first such visit for a Western head of state. It also signals a marked difference in foreign policy from the Bush-era bomb first strategy. Of course, Sarah Palin would have loved to watch a nuclear glow wafting over N. Korea from her Alaskan front porch, doncha know.

  1. Mr Griffey,

Perhaps after your “career” at the FW Weekly sputters to a stop you can defect to the DPRK and go to work for their News Agency since you’re so apt to quote them. I’m still waiting for you to respond to Chinese Boomerang’s challenge. In case you forgot:

“Go through the Charlie Gibson example above and explain to us EXACTLY how that is not journalistic deception. Please go through it point by point and don’t miss anything. You asked for an example and one was provided.

Let’s see your journalistic chops on full display.”

I’m waiting for your response doncha know.

  2. There is really nothing sadder than watching political partisans slinging mud at each other. New flash for ya – most liberals and most conservatives, of the sort that actually *care* about this sort of bickering, are complete and utter morons. Get over it and do something useful.

  3. Eric,

You may not understand this until a long time passes. But it WILL come to pass that you DO understand …. eventually.

You are in possession of puny, sick soul.

  4. David B. says –

“There is really nothing sadder than watching political partisans slinging mud at each other. New flash for ya – most liberals and most conservatives, of the sort that actually *care* about this sort of bickering, are complete and utter morons.”

When someone slings mud at you and you don’t defend yourself you will in no small time lose your liberty.

In previous post oN “Blotch” Eric. G. made some accusations (threw mud) and then asked a specific question. An equally specific answer was given and Eric G. gave no answer even though the answer to his question was thoroughly thought through and given in good faith.

I assume that all of us in our time away from the net are doing SOMETHING “useful” I know I am. But, since you are taking time to post then why not do something useful yourself, and CONTRIBUTE.

  5. Chinese Boomerang and Prof,

I don’t know how my journalistic chops would be tested by defending Charlie Gibson. The facts are pretty clear in that one example. Gibson got it wrong. I can’t say for certain what was motivating him, nor can anyone but him. So I’m not willing to say that he was intentionally distorting what Palin said, or that he was a part of some vast conspiracy to undermine her candidacy. Isn’t it possible that he just simply got his facts wrong?

And as for my soul, CB, I appreciate your concern. I’m also very glad you’ve found a venue that allows you to spew your venom anonymously. David B.’s point is well taken. You’re not doing anything useful. You’re bringing down this and other conversations to a grade school level. Good use of CAPS, btw. I hope all 19 of your cats are doing well, and your tinfoil hat keeps the government out of your head. Good luck being a nut job.

  6. “The agency reported that Clinton apologized on behalf of the two journalists, and his visit would “contribute to deepening the understanding” between the two nations.”

Why don’t we give them more fuel rods (ala Bill Clinton) why we’re at it. What exactly did we apologize for now? Clinton would have NEVER embarked on a trip to North Korea unless this deal was already sealed. Question is, what did the present administration give to old Lil Kim?

In 1994, former President Jimmy Carter traveled to North Korea and extracted a promise from Kim Jong Il to freeze nuclear production. We gave them food, fuel oil, relaxed economic sanctions and built them a light water nuclear reactor. Lil Kim “promised” to shut down the graphite core reactor at Pyongyang. What did we get out of this? At least 2 nuclear test detonations and some medium and long-range missile tests.

I am happy for the return of the journalists, but what did we give Lil Kim? Appeasement never works with these types.

  7. Maybe we told Kim Jong “Be Illin'” that he can star in Michael Bay’s next multi-million-dollar disaster flick, “For Slick Willie’s Eyes Only.”

  8. Eric,

You used the joyful news of the release of the the two American’s to take a whack at Palin.

My thoughts at yesterday’s news of the release of the two journalists went immediately to our soldier being held by the Taliban and whether this action by Clinton will make it easier or harder for us to get him out alive.

    See the difference?

Now, here is an example of high-school level conversation –

Your words – “Of course, Sarah Palin would have loved to watch a nuclear glow wafting over N. Korea from her Alaskan front porch, doncha know. ”

Go back through my posts and try to find anything that inane.

  9. CB,

How about: “You are in possession of puny, sick soul.” for starters? And that’s just on this post. Moving on…

Anyone find it ironic that the two journalists worked for Al Gore’s news company?

  10. Yes, it’s “puny and sick” to use Americans held hostage and their subsequent release as an excuse to make a juvenile statement about someone you don’t like.

That’s just the truth Eric G.

And, when you say “Moving On” you illustrate perfectly why people like you are referred to as the drive by press. You take your shots without reason, cause some chaotic mess and then move on as you say.

What about the soldier held by the Taliban Eric G.?

  11. I agree… Palin IS the Taliban in reverse…
And Obama is the Taliban in low gear…
In other words he’s heading in the same direction as the Afgah Mullahs; He just moves a little slower than Mullah Mohammad Omar. On his visit to Cairo, Obama certainly showed an impressive erudition in the Koran. Makes one wonder.

  12. CB,

Of course I’m concerned about our soldier being held hostage, but that’s not what I wrote about, and the fact that I didn’t address it in my last comment doesn’t make me a drive-by commentor. That’s failed logic.

So let me get this right:
I write a post about Bill Clinton going to N. Korea to negotiate the release of hostages, add a joke about Palin and Bush, and therefore I don’t care about our captured troop. That is some stunning work, Columbo.

Let me try. Chinese Boomerang is politically conservative, and condones torture, and therefore likes to torture any one of his 19 cats with a cheese knife. Yay, I did it.

  13. EG,

Please allow me one more argumentum ad hominem.

    I’ve detected a formula with your posts….
    1. Mundane Comment based upon normal news cycl event followed by a drive-by comment.
    2. Attempt to defend yourself by posting a snide reply comment with no attempt to justify outrageous claims
    3. Attempt to take the high road.
    4. Attempt at sarcasm followed by an additional snide remark

Forgive me for getting off topic but I’m still really confused by that sickass youtube video that your esteemed colleague posted of you last week on blotch. Can you please explain to those of us without your musical gifts whether you were drunk, on acid, or being initiated into some sort of cult?

  14. Eric G.

In a psychologically healthy persons mind, give me your idea of the ratio of connectedness that ought to be held between these thoughts.

    1. Two American hostages held in N. Korea and then released and an American soldier held by the Taliban (a group that is actually guilty of torture, as in cutting people’s heads off.)

    or –

    2. Two American hostages held in N. Korea and then released and a former Vice Presidential candidate that you like to make negative comments about.

My idea is about 100 to 1 in favor of a thought connection between any hostages, whether held in N. Korea, Afghanistan or wherever. In other words, my first example. *1

The fact Palin entered your mind at all speaks volumes about you. But again, you may not understand this about yourself for a long, long time.

Here are three more questions for you. Why are the Japanese and S. Koreans livid with us over Clinton’s actions? Could it be because they have had for many years, hundreds of citizens kidnapped and taken to prison camps in N. Korea? And could it be that they now see that their negotiating leverage has been drastically reduced because of Clinton’s actions? They may never see their countrymen again. EVER.

All you see is a chance to take a whack at Palin.

    Sick and puny.

*1 Pllease don’t say the really stupid thing, namely that we are at war with the Taliban and so our soldier is simply a prisoner of war. The Taliban is stateless terrorist orginization inseperable from Al Qaeda.

  15. CB,

Clinton understands diplomacy. Palin, who would not have dealt with Kim Jong Il, according to what she said during the campaign, is more in line with Bush on that matter. She very well could have been the VP, so the difference is marked and relevant. Again, thanks for the concern over my soul. I hope you’re praying for me in between cutting out pictures of Palin and Hannity for your “best friends” collage and jarring your own urine.

    Prof,

Here’s one I did for you:
    1. Watch Hannity and listen to Limbaugh
    2. Repeat what they said as if it was your own

I’m glad you’ve found a home for your extremist, borderline racist world-view. My guess is that you’d be a little less bold if you were to use your real name. Keep the hits coming.

As for the Rivercrest Yacht Club, you’re more than welcome to follow us on twitter, facebook, or myspace for upcoming show dates or merchandise. It pleases to me to no end that you don’t get it — though we usually play well to the archconservative crowd. Thanks for your interest!

  16. Mr Griffey appears to be not only an accomplished journalist, he’s also a master of verse. Notice the create way he’s able to form interesting rhyming patterns such as slippers and tippers. Let’s admire some of his work.

Back to the Yacht Club1, I’m leaning and swerving2
Cuz the girls keep searching for my cyclopean serpent3
Sister strippers4 are with us from the Slipper5 cuz we’re tippers6

And, ladies, how are you getting home cuz we all can’t fit on my scooter?

  17. Oh, but I’ve shown absolutely no interest in your band except to note that you are in one and and added to a “best of” roundup of music from 2008 for the FW Weekly.

And I pointed out that you couldn’t even tell the difference between audio recorded in 1981 vs. 2008 which is again for a “musician” yes, STUNNING.

    Re: Clinton understands diplomacy –

The Prof. above, points out the huge mistakes made by Clinton and Carter in the ’90s in regards to N. Korea. I haven’t seen your response to those facts yet. And remember Carter couldn’t get out the Americans held by Iran during his tenure.

You also didn’t address the concerns of the Japanese and S. Koreans which I noted above. Remember, they are our allies.

If you have a “beef” with Limbaugh or Hannity then give me an example. For instance I had a beef with Gibson and I registered it. Your belated attempt at an explanation didn’t cut it. Sorry.

Eric, aren’t you just guilty of exactly what your suggesting I do. Watch / Listen / Repeat. That argument against me can’t possibly work because – no matter who a person watches / listens to, there is nothing wrong with repeating facts. To say that there is is asinine Eric and you know it. Someone once taught you 2+2=4. Are you going to reject that fact simply because you may not have liked that person’s / teacher’s “style” of communicating it? No. Unless you have a juvenile mind.

Fact are facts. You are suffering from the same problem as most liberals. You favor style over substance.

  18. Be careful, Chinese Boomerang, or Palin will organize an aerial hunt and kill all 19 of your cats like the Alaskan hunters do to the wolves.

Think about it, anybody who wants polar bears removed from an endangered species list so that oil drillers can more easily have their way in Alaska might just bite off the heads of 19 cats.

  19. BTW Eric G.

If you haven’t already done so, go ahead and send my email address to Obama’s new snitch program at whitehouse.gov since now, all of a sudden, dissent, which as little as eight months ago was considered “the highest form of patriotism,” is now considered grounds for reporting your fellow countrymen to the government.

  20. More Re: “Clinton understood diplomacy.”

Where by “understood” Eric G. means that Ciinton set us up for 911.

  21. Jeff P. says –

“Be careful, Chinese Boomerang, or Palin will organize an aerial hunt and kill all 19 of your cats like the Alaskan hunters do to the wolves.

Think about it, anybody who wants polar bears removed from an endangered species list so that oil drillers can more easily have their way in Alaska might just bite off the heads of 19 cats.”

    zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz hehe!

  22. Fifty years from now history books will tell us how Cheney-Rumsfeld- Bush took advantage of 9/11 to create massive wealth for the Halliburton war mongers and profiteers. The Bush bunch will be widely viewed as jackals and people like chinese boomerang and professor buddy will still be defending them because they are too stubborn and stupid to admit they’ve been played like the tools they are.

  23. Jeff P.

Here is my response to your last post.

What do you think about the huge problem of feral boar hogs in the Texas Big Country? Should we allow aerial hunting in in that case?

Because you see this actually is a relevant topic, polar bears being yes, on a government list, but in fact not being endangered, not by us. Maybe the Russians but not us.

  24. Independence Day,

You left out the term “liberal” when you say history books. Those books being used in liberal academia is what you mean.

To clarify your point for you let’s look back 50 yrs. instead of forward to see if your thinking holds up.

We know that liberals (such as they, like you, exist today and unlike classical liberals like JFK Truman and LBJ) in the US took the side of Facists, Nazis, and Communists across the world that have definitely been proven wrong and are responsible for millions upon millions of deaths over the last century.

Why do you want to give that kind of political philosophy one more try? Is it your vanity? Yes. In your mind you think like Obama, that you will finally be, after thousands of years, “the one” to finally bring the great utopia.

  25. How timely that just as we’re debating whether Bush et al will fair well in the history books, the Obama White house is declaring the “war on terror” over.

    Per the Washington Times…
John Brennan (White House homeland security official) said that to say the U.S. is fighting “jihadists” is wrongheaded because it is using “a legitimate term, ‘jihad,’ meaning to purify oneself or to wage a holy struggle for a moral goal” which “risks giving these murderers the religious legitimacy they desperately seek but in no way deserve.”

Allow me to correct Obama homeland security stooge… Jihad means to blow yourself up in the middle of an Israeli coffee shop killing innocent men, women and children.
