Be on the lookout over the next couple of weeks for Bible Stories, a superlative piece of indie-rock popistry by The Foxymorons, the duo of Fort Worthian Jerry James and Nashvillian David Dewese, who met in the mid 1990s in high school in Mesquite. The album, the duo’s forth recording, has been a long time coming. James and Dewese’s last outing, the Pitchfork-approved Hesitation Eyes, came out five years ago. Bible Stories is a continuation of the band’s jangly yet fuzzy guitarwork, snappy beats, and nimble, witty lyrics. Highly recommended, especially for fans of late Big Star, Folk Implosion, and Guided By Voices.
