No, you didn’t misread that headline. The Texas Outlaws, who spent the past two seasons playing in NYTEX Sports Centre in North Richland Hills, today announced via a press release that they won’t be playing this winter due to budgetary restrictions. The news isn’t up yet on the team’s website, but their name has been removed from the roster of Professional Arena Soccer League teams. A small silver lining in the bad news: The Outlaws players have been released to the DFW Tornados, a team in the PASL’s semi-pro league. They play in Euless, so you won’t have to go far to see some of the Outlaws.

At least there’s FC Dallas. Not only has Coach Schellas Hyndman just been named MLS’ Coach of the Year, his team has made the semifinals of the MLS Cup. They’re looking at a tough match on Sunday on the road against a star-studded L.A. Galaxy team that has yet to win a championship with Landon Donovan and David Beckham leading them. Most MLS observers think that FC Dallas’ run at the title is going to end here, but FCD can counter the superstars with Dax McCarty and team captain Daniel Hernandez manning the middle and David Ferreira making plays. A win puts FCD in the final, where the team has never been before. North Texas sports fans are looking to FC Dallas to brighten their fall right now.
