The Southside DIY spot The Where House appears to be in straitened circumstances. The owner of the building at 2510 Hemphill St., according to a post from The Where House on the venue’s Facebook page, owes several thousand dollars in back taxes. Where House owner Casey Smith intends to raise enough money to prevent foreclosure. At 8 p.m. on Sat., Jan. 22, The Where House will host a Save The Where House fundraiser featuring a carnival theme, with games, a “Kissin’ Boof,” bounce house, freak show, and $2 you-call-its, all for the $10 price of admission (payable at the door). Two Fort Worth bands, according to DFW.com, are already slated to play: My Wooden Leg and Skeleton Coast. More may be coming. And no word yet on how much time Smith has to come up with the money or whether or not he’ll keep having shows and throwing parties in the meantime. To enter the Save The Where House carnival, you must be at least 18. To imbibe, you must be 21. To arrange to make a donation, e-mail Smith at wherehousefw@gmail.com.
