Founded by native Fort Worthian Andrew Kenny, the Austin-based shoe-gazey Wooden Birds are about to release their sophomore effort, Two Matchsticks, and play some shows in Austin during the annual SXSW Music Festival and Conference. Kenny formed The Wooden Birds not long after his original, breakthrough band, American Analog Set, disbanded. Around the time of The Wooden Birds’ creation was also when Kenny began collaborating with Broken Social Scene. During South-by, on Thu., Mar. 17, at 2:15 p.m., The Wooden Birds will be at Homeslice (no cover, no badge) and at 10 p.m. at Red Eyed Fly. At 11:30 a.m. on Sat., Mar. 19, the band will perform at The Hilton as part of a KUT showcase. No cover, no badge.
