"MONSTROUS BIRTH" (2010), ONE OF MORROW'S SOFT FLESHY FABRIC SCULPTURES FROM A PAST SHOW.

This week’s “Art” page features an interview with conceptual artist Janet Morrow, whose show Ambiguous Belonging is up at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center through March 29. (There’ll be an artist’s reception 6-9pm Saturday March 24). Morrow experienced profound hearing loss in mid-life and wears cochlear implants. But her art can’t be pigeonholed as advocacy for the deaf community –– she explores the complex relationship between humans and technology through her sculptures, drawings, and installations.

Because of her cochlear implants, Morrow considers herself a “cyborg” –– an intermingling of human and machine. With that in mind, here are movie clips featuring two of the most badass cyborgs in cinema history. In 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day, actor Robert Patrick memorably played the T-1000, the liquid metal assassin who chases Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, and Edward Furlong down an elevator shaft. The more obscure Demon Seed (1977) is about a genius computer who kidnaps and impregnates Julie Christie to create a human-machine hybrid baby. The final birth scene is creepy good fun. (And it’s SFW).
