We received nearly 35 submissions from more than a dozen artists in our annual beer label contest for Rahr & Sons Brewing Company ’s Visionary Brew, brewed in honor of our annual Visionary Awards, three $500 cash awards given to three outstanding up-and-coming Fort Worth artists as determined by a distinguished panel of judges, all art industry professionals and educators. As determined by attendees to our Second Annual Visionary Awards party last Thursday at Artspace 111, this year’s winning label was designed by Brandon Huether, a newly transplanted North Dakotan who lives in North Fort Worth. Congrats to him. Check out the six finalists below as determined by a small panel of judges, including Weekly associate publisher Michael Newquist, Weekly marketing manager Dana Crumbliss, Weekly art director Bonnie Mays, your award-winning Weekly art critic me, and last year’s designer of the winning Visionary Brew label, Jordan Roberts. An honors UNT grad, Roberts has done graphic design work for Fossil, the Dallas ad and design firm Signal, iProspect (formerly Range Online Media), National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, Reata Restaurant, MHMR of North Texas, and BooKoo energy drinks, among others, and he is currently a senior graphic designer for the TIGI brand of professional hair and makeup products (BedHead, TIGI Cosmetics, S-factor). He has won several gold and silver American Advertising Federation Addy awards.
