HERE'S A PREDICTION: DEZ BRYANT WILL BREAK EVERY COWBOYS RECORD HELD BY ANY PREVIOUS NO. 88. (flickr photo by AJ Guel)

Sportswriter Peter Schrager’s All-Pro predictions give plenty of props for our ‘Boys in silver and blue.

Stacking up impressive statistics has been easier for the Cowboys than winning games, so it’s not surprising that kicker Dan Bailey, tight end Jason Witten, linebackers DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer, wideout Dez Bryant, and quarterback Tony Romo all get named.

Schrager noted Bailey’s “steady accuracy and clutch moments,” and remarked at how Spencer has quietly “emerged as an elite outside linebacker this season, racking up 80 tqackles and 9 sacks.”

The sportswriter called Witten and his other All-Pro tight end pick Tony Gonzalez “oldies but goodies.” C’mon, Witten is six years younger than the 36-year-old Gonzalez.

How soon they forget: Earlier this season, sportswriters, broadcasters, and even fans were revolting against the uneven and trouble-prone Bryant. But after torching defenses during the last half of the season, Bryant is now called a “shoe-in” by Schrager.

He has a tougher time defending his pick of Romo: “I’ll get clobbered for going with Romo over RG3 and the rest (I have a ‘man-crush’ on Romo, remember?) but he’s the sole reason Dallas is where they are today.”

And where is Dallas today?

They’re one win away from making the playoffs and fulfilling MY early season prediction of a Super Bowl win.

  1. Peter Schrager apparently knows as much about football as I know about nuclear science. Ware and Witten were the only Cowboys who ended up being selected All Pro.
