Public scrutiny helps keep elected officials walking the straight and narrow line.

You can let your leaders know that you’re watching by attending weekly meetings.

The Fort Worth City Council meets at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Here’s this week’s agenda.

The council room’s chairs aren’t all that comfortable — the cushions are old and flattened out. But sometimes you have to make personal sacrifices to maintain democracy.  And, after all, sitting on a hard chair for a couple of hours isn’t exactly like fighting in the Civil War.

The Tarrant County Commissioners Court also meets at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Here’s this week’s agenda.

Chairs at the commissioner’s court are extremely comfortable.
