Wed 20 – David Hare’s Behind the Beautiful Forevers received glowing notices when it debuted in London six months ago, and now you can watch a broadcast of that production. Based on Katherine Boo’s reporting, the play documents slum-dwellers in Mumbai trying to scrape a living in the shadow of that city’s immense wealth. The broadcast is at 2pm & 7pm at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell St, FW. Tickets are $12-20. Call 817-923-3012.

Thur 21 – Britten’s The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra remains the template for showing musical neophytes what a theme and variations are. It’s in those footsteps that Micah Levy is following in his The Probably Untrue Story of Mary (who) Had a Little Lamb, a series of variations on the children’s song. Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra plays this when the group visits Southlake at 6:30pm at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 185 S White’s Chapel Blvd. Tickets are $5-20. Call 817-665-6000.

Fri 22 – The last time Jay Pharoah visited, he was just getting his sea legs on Saturday Night Live. Now he’s a solidly entrenched cast member with a wide array of impressions, including a Barack Obama impersonation that has never received its proper due from the show’s writers. Today thru Sun, he returns to The Improv Club, 309 Curtis Mathes Way, Arlington. Tickets are $22. Call 817-635-5555.

Sat 23 – The weekend for the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial is once again upon us. Last year, Australia’s Adam Scott broke a six-year streak of American winners. He’ll be here to defend his title against the likes of homegrown PGA sensation and recent Masters champion Jordan Spieth. Let’s hope the weather holds up. The tournament runs thru Sun at Colonial Country Club, 3735 Country Club Cir, FW. Tickets are $50-265. Call 817-927-4280.

Sun 24 – Pianist José Cubela joins the Mejia Ballet International for the Arlington-based troupe’s performances this weekend. The ensemble will be dusting off some of the creations that made Paul Mejia’s reputation in the 1970s and ’80s, including his settings of Romeo and Juliet, Brahms’ Waltzes, and For Five. The performances are Sat thru today at UTA, Texas Hall, 701 W Nedderman Dr, Arlington. Tickets are $15-70. Call 817-272-9595.

Mon 25 – If ballet isn’t your style (see: Sunday blurb), maybe tap dance is more to your liking. Arts Fifth Avenue’s annual National Tap Dance Day celebration features live performances by the 5th Avenue Hi-Notes, Legacy Tap Project, Taps ’n Tunes, and other dancers, backed up by the Joe Rogers Trio. Proceeds from a silent auction will benefit A5A’s scholarship fund. The performance is at 8pm at 1628 5th Av, FW. Admission is free. Call 817-923-9500.

Tues 26 – NBC’s planned live TV production of The Music Man is supposed to air some time this year, but before the network gets its hands on this quintessentially American show, you can catch Artisan Center Theatre’s production Fri thru Jul 3 at Belaire Theater, 420 E Pipeline Rd, Hurst. Tickets are $11-20. Call 817-284-1200.
