Stage West recently announced the winners of its 6th annual Southwest Playwriting Competition, which awards a $500 first place cash prize and readings at the company’s New Play Festival in February 2013. In addition, the first place script will be considered for a full mainstage production in the 2013/2014 season. The top prize is split between two plays: The mob comedy Murphy’s Law by Kenneth Stilson (Cape Girardeau, MO) and Dallasite Steven Young’s 10th century historical drama The King’s Face. First runner-up is the Civil War drama Sisters Under the Skin by Paullette MacDougal (Austin).
