Don McCarty  - I am ready to move   |68.238.158.xxx |2009-08-26 05:23:30
This is criminal and I guess the one thing we can control...is where we live.
Sharon Wilson  - Moving away leaves on the poor to cope   |129.120.106.xxx |2009-08-26 06:02:08
I appreciate how you feel, Don, but if we all move away there will only be poor
people left to try to fight this invasion. It's the same when people say
drilling should only happen in the rural areas. Wrong is wrong no matter where
it takes place and allowing industry to get away with these crimes only empowers
them to commit more crimes. We are all one on this tiny planet so we need to
stand as one and demand accountability.

Thank you to the FW Weekly and your
courageous reporters. You can expect a very angry response from industry because
you so artfully and completely exposed their dirty tricks.
Christine Heinrichs  - Barnett Shale fraccing   |66.214.69.xxx |2009-08-26 05:58:13
Thank you, Peter Gorman and Fort Worth Weekly for putting this information
together so that the public can make sense of it. The lack of response from
these businesses and the FWISD (!) are significant, too. Getting this
information out there is necessary to bring reform to the regulatory process and
protect the public. Your work is inspiring.
Amy Mall  - Loopholes in our environmental laws should be clos   |98.245.126.xxx |2009-08-26 06:29:08
Oil and gas operations can release a number of hazardous
pollutants into our
environment yet, despite the health risks, these operations are exempt from key
provisions of our important environmental laws, including the
Clean Air Act,
the Safe Drinking Water Act, and our federal law that governs toxic waste. With
new technology available it is time for these loopholes to be closed to protect
human health and our environment.
Adam Barnett  - Loopholes   |66.90.222.xxx |2009-08-26 07:16:59
I got this from Wilson's blog: http://www.txsharon.blogspot.com/

Legislation
is pending that will close the Halliburton Loophole, but we need more support
for these bills. Please ask your member of Congress or Senator to co-sponsor
these bills.

S. 1215 - Fracturing Responsibility and Awareness of Chemicals
(FRAC) Act

A bill to amend the Safe Drinking Water Act to repeal a certain
exemption for hydraulic fracturing, and for other purposes.

H.R. 2766 -
Fracturing Responsibility and Awareness of Chemicals Act of 2009

To repeal the
exemption for hydraulic fracturing in the Safe Drinking Water Act, and for other
purposes.
J.B. Truth  - photos are BS   |76.187.10.xxx |2009-08-26 06:26:12
Peter, you hurt the arguement when you place two photos of different locations
and call them the same.

It's obvious these are not the same.

You might as
well Photo Shop in George Bush setting the place on fire, too.
Phil Hennen  - photos   |99.27.148.xxx |2009-08-26 06:52:29
Mr. "Truth":
How do we know they are not the same site? I am not
speaking for Peter Gorman - I don't know for certain the are the same site - I
am simply saying that one shot is a normal photograph from one angle and the
other using the infrared technology from a different angle. I don't believe you
can tell if they are the same site or not. So maybe you should seriously
consider the content of the article before criticizing.
JBTruth  - photos   |76.187.10.xxx |2009-08-26 07:03:50
Phil:
The photo at the top has 2 large barrels while the one with the alledged
flume has three barrels on it's location.

Just look at the photo and you see
their not the same place.

Such poor reporting makes you wonder what other
"facts" within the article are untrue.
Adam Barnett  - photos   |66.90.222.xxx |2009-08-26 07:20:53
I didn't see where he said both photos are from the same site.

One photo shows
what a well site looks like to the naked eye.

One photo shows what a well site
looks like through an IR camera.

Nice attempt to deflect from the atrocities
mentioned in the article though.
Splashdown  - the photos   |74.212.60.xxx |2009-08-26 08:19:00
you're right!
gorman isn't saying the pictures are of the same exact tanks!
we
can probably assume that most of tanks like those pictured are leakng... the top
picture just shows us what we can see...
doesn't matter which tanks the copter
flies past... we're seeing a representative 'one'.
Splashdown  - photos   |74.212.60.xxx |2009-08-26 08:33:31
well, i'm gonna take what i said back... the truth of the pictures is the
same... but the english is sloppy and just a bit more attention to the wording
in the bw image could have saved the deflections from happening...
sigh.
JB Truth  - photos   |64.92.217.xxx |2009-08-26 09:04:54
Adam, Splashdow here is the sentence from UNDER photo #2 (above):

"...
But when seen through infrared camera, the same site is a toxic mess. Courtesy
TCEQ... "

Note the words SAME SITE.

Just print what's true & don't
fabricate.
Peter Gorman  - photos   |70.234.222.xxx |2009-08-26 09:41:51
The photos are from the state agency, and we're told they're the same place. I
question it too, but that's what we're told so that's what we went with.
The
TCEQ took shots of lots and lots of sites at different levels of completion.
They didn't find any that were not spewing the hydrocarbons. These were taken in
Parker county, I think.
If there was an error and the shots were mixed up, I
don't think that would detract from what's shown.
david byrne  - Nice try   |138.237.132.xxx |2009-08-26 09:55:20
nice try, mr. "truth" - trying to divert attention from a real issue by
focusing on a grammatical flub. if you watch the video, it's pretty clear that
there is visual & IR footage of the same sites.

a small error on the weekly's
part doesn't change the fact that the *real* truth is in the video.

the way
some of you people try to keep killing our city terrifies me.
JB Truth  - photos   |76.187.10.xxx |2009-08-26 18:33:32
David B:

Peter has affirmed his doubt of the photos-- and that is my point.

The "visual" effectsof photography are strong in reporting.

What
would you say if there was a photo of a warehouse building, then the 2nd photo
was the same building in flames with YOU next to it with a match in your
hand.

I dont trust the TCEQ or anybody else.

If someone is contaminating,
then let's prove it and get 'em,

Bu Photo Shopping images OR taking photos a
year apart is BS.
Adam  - Pictures   |66.90.222.xxx |2009-08-26 13:43:44
Ya know, I actually read the articles printed, not just look at the pictures and
captions.

I live with these well sites all around me and lots of times they
have several sets of tanks on the same site.

Stop trying to take away from the
truth of the article. Public health and safety is at risk.
Anna  - Our toxic environment + afterthought photos   |24.242.219.xxx |2009-08-28 11:14:21
"J. B. Truth" may even work for the drilling interests, I have seen this
type of diversion before. While this industry defiles our air and water, they
sponsor art contests for children, who are given recognition at town meetings.
What could be more disgusting, than using innocent children to insert yourself
as a 'caring member' of the community while ruining the quality of life for the
futures of those same youngsters? Keep telling the truth, there are plenty of
nasty pictures/videos to go around!!
Sharon Wilsn  - Official TCEQ video footage   |66.90.222.xxx |2009-08-26 06:57:42
You can see the video footage here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiU4ehXV-LI

and you can see the before IR lens and after IR lens shots.
Sharon Ward  - The Big Takeover   |75.106.34.xxx |2009-08-26 06:39:10
Thank you Peter Gorman and Fort Worth
Weekly. for your brave exposure
of
contamination. Some of us do not have
the luxury, or desire to leave our

We will stay and fight for our right to

Hoping to prevent the
children from
lock-step robotics in greed and power.
Eric B  - youtube footage   |128.253.209.xxx |2009-08-26 06:57:39
I found the youtube footage mention:

To think they could prevent this but
don't is just outrageous!
charlie murphy  - gas drilling   |66.14.121.xxx |2009-08-26 07:18:19
My sincere “Thanks!” to Peter Gorman for having the guts to tell the truth
about the dangers of gas drilling.

No matter which way property owners turn
for even an inkling of responsible government, they are treated with scorn or
indifference. We have become Second Class Citizens. It is truly as if we are
living in a Third World Country.

The gas and oil industry is now using their
power “against” citizens in this Country rather than “for them”. The
underlying motivation of this industry is NOT to protect this County; it is
outright, unbridled greed.

Their “Exemptions” are nothing more than
Legalized Deceptive Trade Practices!

We are facing a degree of arrogance from
the gas and oil industry that is on par with that
witnessed during the
Sub-Prime Lending and Default Credit Swap years – i.e. Let “US” do
whatever we want and everything will end up OK”.

It is EXACTLY this type

we here in pennsylvania, atop the marcellus shale are years behind in our
experience of the gas industry and the consequences of its unregulated methods

this kind of expository reporting, which seems to be largely and
increasingly bought off and suppressed, serves as a real eye opener.
i'm about
to spread the word by sharing it on splashdown, with people in the northeast,
facing the prospect of this new invasive reality.

thanks again for
courageously speaking out!
keep up the good work!
Killtoy  - Better Wake Up.   |74.197.39.xxx |2009-08-26 07:58:41
What is shocking is this kind of attention is just now getting out. This stuff
has been happening for decades now that we are at a point where things are
getting noticed and possibly dealt with the harm has been done! People sick some
dieing or dead, Animals dieing or dead, water ruined, property worthless for
future generations. This list can go on and on…

I am not saying its to late
to do any thing we can still stop this from getting worse and began a reversal
but its going to have to be done abruptly without haste and until we are able to
make the corporations responsible for what they have done this is in a limbo
that our children and grandchildren can not afford.
Michael Leza  - Rights?   |173.71.21.xxx |2009-08-26 12:43:56
My right to breathe and be healthy trumps the rights of people to pump poison
into the air and water, especially if they're just doing it to add a few more
numbers to an already padded bank account.

Sharon:

I appreciate your perspective; it is heroic and true. But when the
Philistines (or Taliban) have taken over, at some point one should recognize the
futility of the fight and move on.

I will not put my family or my own future
at risk to save a town and region that is content with being led by corruption
and cowardice. Darwin's principles will prevail in the end and I see no reason
to reap those "rewards."
Sharon Wilson  - You have a good point   |66.90.222.xxx |2009-08-26 16:27:41
I'm getting pretty sick of it all.
Kim, Arlington  - frac solution secret recipe   |70.247.161.xxx |2009-08-26 17:30:01
I recently read somewhere about a statement that was printed defending a gas
company's right to "earn a living" and that they should not have to give
up their precious fricking fracing solution.

Who gave them the right to make a
living at the expense of making us die?

Where is Obama sitting on this
environmental issue? Its like he's so into healthcare reform...I guess he needs
to make sure that all the people that get sick from gas drilling have healthcare
coverage.
Sharon Wilson  - FRAC Act   |66.90.222.xxx |2009-08-27 01:06:28
Obama appointed Lisa Jackson to head up the EPA and she has issued some strong
statements indicating that the EPA is FINALLY paying attention to the air
pollution and hydraulic fracturing.

During the former administration, fracking
was exempt from our Safe Drinking Water Act and the EPA did a "study"
claiming the process was safe. An EPA whistle blower, Weston, exposed the faulty
science and studies that led to EPA's position.

Jackson said early on, in very
strong language, that fracking needs more study. This week, a study in
Pavillion, WY proved there are fracking chemicals in 11 private water wells. The
release of public information on that study contained this quote:

"Many
activities in gas well drilling, hydraulic fracturing and work- over’s involve
injecting water and other fluids into the well and have the potential to create
cross-contamination of aquifers."

This is a complete about-face on

Sharon Wilson  - FRAC Act part II   |66.90.222.xxx |2009-08-27 01:10:16
The EPA statement is a complete about-face for the EPA.

We need to get more
support for the FRAC Act which will remove the industry loophole that prevents
the EPA from regulating fracking.

Granger will never support this bill. Please
write Lloyd Doggett and ask him to co-sponsor the FRAC Act. It would mean a
great deal to this act to have a Texas co-sponsor.

You can find out more at
www.txsharon.blogspot.com Look in the left column for Hydraulic Fracturing.
Kim  - Lloyd Doggett's contact only allows certain city   |70.247.161.xxx |2009-08-27 05:01:19
If you live in Texas or Louisiana and wonder about the environmental impact of
gas drilling....

Go to http://txsharon.blogspot.com and it has countless
articles of neglect of the Texas Railroad Commission in protecting us from the
oil and gas industry. Texas has a reputation as a boom town, but this could
mean literally a "boom" town. Any accident in a high metropolitan area
would mean high fatality or sickness rates. If something catastrophic happened
whether obvious or over a cumulative 10 year effect (endocrine disrupters), we
do not want to be another statistic of a preventable accident, please let us be
proactive. We start by your involvement in working to pass the FRAC Act.

TAKE ACTION BY CONTACTING YOUR CONGRESSMAN AND CONGRESSMAN LLOYD DOGGETT...
1.
go to http://forms.house.gov/doggett/webforms/issue_subs cribe.htm and write a
letter or cut and past this one below.

2. Be sure to fill out the contact
Kim  - part two steps to contact Doggett   |70.247.161.xxx |2009-08-27 05:04:27
2. Be sure to fill out the contact infomation BUT to be heard, you have to type
in that you live in LA Grange zip code# 78945, or type in Smithville zip 78957,
or Kyle zip 78640.
3. repeat this process with your congressman using your real
city and zip code.
Dear Congressman Lloyd Doggett, please co-sponsor a bill
that supports the FRAC act. Especially since the word on the street is that
Granger will never support it.
We need protection that would make gas drilling
companies disclose their hydraulic fracing recipe so that regulations can be
enforced to protect our clean air and water from any toxic soups that spill or
evaporate into our environment.
If the cattle in Texas do not die from
exposure, which happened recently to 18 cows in Caddo parish in Louisiana, our
Texas beef could be in danger of contamination.
So please help us protect what
we eat, drink and breathe.
Thank You

Thank you for such courageous reporting!

It's high time to expose the Natural
Gas industry's pollution.

If you want to see more about what Natural Gas
drilling does to public health and our environment go to
www.waterunderattack.com-- a new film in progress about Natural Gas drilling
around America. Interviews in the Ft. Worth area with Don Young, and with Reps.
James Hinchey and Diana DeGette, the sponsors of the Frac Act and more on line
now.

Thanks again for this story.

Justine  - Fighting the invasion and mailbox money   |63.99.29.xxx |2009-09-14 10:49:27
Gee Sharon, it sure did not stop you from signing an OGML with Braden Energy did
it on your home place in Wise County? So much for fighting off the evil gas
companies? Spoken like a real Pelosi Democrat. Do as I say not do as I do huh?
Sharon Wilson  - Well, Gee, Justine   |72.48.170.xxx |2009-09-14 15:49:04
Since I didn't own all the minerals under my land that was pooled in with 600
acres and I was told by Braden that they would drill anyway, NOT signing would
only have meant more profit for Braden. Wouldn't they LOVE that? But, you know
the rest of the story because we've been through this before.

Thanks Braden
for the neat YouTube video camera that I use to capture your misdeeds.
BC  - More Inaccurate Statements   |63.99.29.xxx |2009-09-15 02:22:47
Actually the money goes to the State if you don't sign. Braden keeps it for a
couple of years but the money does escheat eventually.
Sharon Wilson  - Bonus Money   |72.48.170.xxx |2009-09-15 02:31:23
They certainly would keep the bonus money--more profit for them. To get along
with me, all they need to do is Drill Right. Too bad they haven't done that so
far. Maybe they will from now on.
http://txsharon.blogspot.com/search?q=Braden
Justine  - The State   |63.99.29.xxx |2009-09-15 05:03:56
No it goes to the state, not Braden. More John Edwards logic it seems in these
statements. "No it is not my child even though the paternity tests proves
it is my child."
Sharon Wilson  - Oh brother!   |72.48.170.xxx |2009-09-15 10:38:39
Your entertainment value is unending. Thanks for the laugh.
Mike  - Bonus versus royalty   |63.99.29.xxx |2009-09-15 07:41:51
Ms. Wilson is correct. If she had not signed bonus is of course saved by
company, but royalties would escheat to the State of Texas after the statutory
limit.

the way to Victory.
