The biggest source of grief I have is that its going to virtually make Lake
Granbury disappear. The amount of water Luminant has contracted to buy from
the Brazos River Authority is going to suck the lake dry. So if you enjoy Lake
Granbury, do it now, cause when those new reactors go online it will just leave
a river.

I am under the impression that the water taken from Lake Granbury is
recirculated between the plant and the lake. Is this not the case?
True Cost of Nukes  - new plants   |139.60.210.xxx |2009-12-02 05:50:17
The current 2 plants recirculate the water from Lake Granbury. The new design
(never before built anywhere) for the proposed 2 plants calls for about 3 times
the water useage, with about 1/3 of it evaporating. Required chemical
treatments may render the return water hazardous to lake life -- but we can't
tell yet because the treatment is "proprietary". Rep. Burnham is right
- Luminant is keeping the public in the dark. Wonder why?

Burnam "Hot Lips" is full of crap, as well as wanting a mortarium on
drilling new Barnett Shale Gas Wells. Someone needs to turn his electricity off
and see how he likes it. What an ass.
