Just because restaurant week is over doesn’t mean you should stay home and eat beans out of a can. We roll:
Blue Mesa (1600 S. University Dr. FW 76107 phone: 817-332-6371) is making tacos for a cause. One dollar from every taco sold goes to several charities. The taco for the month of September is the Steak Relleno with Hatch Chiles. The cost for the meal is $10.50 at dinner, $9.50 at lunch.
Café Nutt (121 E. Bridge St. Granbury phone: 817-579-6868) just opened up in the historic Nutt House Hotel in Granbury. Their calling it modern American classics with southern and European flair. It sounds like it’s all over the map, but the menu, which features braised beef short ribs with smoked cheddar mac and cheese, seems pretty straight forward Americana.
The Covey (3010 S. Hulen St. FW 76109 phone: 817-731-7933) is hosting its second annual October Fest celebration, featuring a German themed buffet for $15. The schnitzel goes down Oct. 9 and 10. Reservations are required.
The Go Texan Restaurant Round-up, sponsored by the Texas Department of Agriculture, promotes restaurant owners and chefs who use locally grown, fresh ingredients. In Fort Worth, Eddie V’s, Blue Mesa, and Light Catcher Winery and Bistro are listed on their site – though Bonnell’s and Ellerbe Fine Foods might have something to say about that too. It’s a cool program that will hopefully grow in scope over time. It’s certainly worth keeping an eye on.
