Texas Sheiks in the Times

In a newish podcast, The New York Times interviews blues guitarist Geoff Muldaur, who discusses the Texas Sheiks, a traditional, old-timey blues super-group of sorts that several months ago put out an eponymous album (with cover art by Edward Ruscha) to which Fort Worth native Stephen Bruton (Kris Kristofferson, Bonnie Raitt, fellow Fort Worthian T Bone Burnett) contributed licks before passing away of cancer last year. The Sheiks also include vocalist Johnny Nicholas (ex-Asleep at the Wheel), slide- and steel-guitarist and five-time Grammy winner Cindy Cashdollar (Levon Helm, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison), Suzy Thompson, Bruce Hughes, and Jim Kweskin. The band is playing only two upcoming shows: one in Austin, the other in Berkeley.

I still read the NYTs for art / architecture / music etc., but I did miss this one.
