Best Outdoor Art North High Mount Elementary fence 3801 W 7th St, FW
Geometric abstracts filled with bright splashes of primary colors, primitive-style paintings of Fort Worth street scenes, whimsical wildflowers, flags, and cowboys, the delightful imaginings of children put to paint and canvas come as a pleasant surprise to drivers traveling along the north side of the playground of this old school. (Built by the Works Progress Administration, it's a work of art itself.) The students' works -- they first graced the walls surrounding construction at the Amon Carter Museum on Lancaster -- have been on display all summer, bringing a welcome tranquility to otherwise sane, law-abiding citizens driven to thoughts of mass murder after trying to manipulate the reconstruction madness at the infamous six-point intersection a mile east of the school. Go see this display from Fort Worth's budding artists, and calm down.
