Best Classical Music Performance -- Individual
Stanislav Ioudenich, Van Cliburn International Piano Competition Finals

The program that lingers most in the memory is gold medalist Ioudenich's performance of the Mozart Piano Concerto No. 21. One doesn't look for such relaxed, introspective performing under the stress of competition. He and conductor James Conlon transcended the contest's confines to give an almost spiritual radiance to the piece, one that a performer three times his age would envy. The simple, aria-like slow movement in particular was an extraordinary collaboration of two musical minds performing as one.

Readers' Choice: Van Cliburn with FWSO, Bass Performance Hall
