It's a sentimental choice, admittedly. Ian Conway's place in Southwest Fort Worth isn't the nicest pub in town; O'Dwyer's Pub by the airport probably wins that one. It isn't the most popular in town; The Blarney Stone downtown likely gets that title. It certainly isn't the biggest, but that wouldn't qualify it for Best Pub anyway. It's alphabetized under "The" instead of "Irish" in the phone book, so it's hard to find, and it isn't where the Weekly editorial staff does its drinking, which is often at the Shamrock. Conway's little place, though, comes closest to being a real pub. The publican's on premises in all his crotchetiness, the Guinness is served at the right temperature (and with a shamrock pattern in the head), and the customers are loyal. Conway's dad worked at Guinness, fer crissakes -- the man knews 'ut he's dewin'!
