Best Greasy Spoon
Peggie & Ivy's Old South Restaurant
5148 E Belknap St, Haltom City

The popular restaurant until June was a sister to the Ol' South Pancake House on University Drive. But Peggie Brewer and her husband, Ivy, bought the Haltom City restaurant and made it their own, changing the name, altering the menu, and focusing equally on breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food is excellent and inexpensive, classic country plays on the stereo, and the waitresses are friendly gals who call everyone "honey." The chicken fried chicken ranks among the best, and the ham-and-cheese omelet with hash browns and three pancakes is a steal at $4.49.
