Best Breakfast Old Neighborhood Grill 1633 Park Pl, FW
This popular Fairmount neighborhood café's good eats are complete, now that chief cook and bottle washer Peter Schroder has added breakfast six mornings a week. His beer-batter biscuits are served hot out of the oven, flaky, fluffy, and butter-meltin' scrumptious. Slathered with jelly or drowned in peppery cream gravy stirred up from pan-drippings, they are a morning meal all by themselves. But if you're really cholesterol-crazy, add Virginia ham and eggs, hashbrowns made from scratch (that means, children, they aren't those frozen, stringy grated types), or grits. And then there's the pancakes. "Really filling" declared the 6-foot, 2-inch grandson with the size-13 feet, as he mopped up syrup with the last forkful. That's the equivalent of a four-star rating from this 17-year-old of few words who takes a lot of "filling."
