Best Place to Buy Gourmet Food
Roy Pope Meat Market
2300 Merrick St, FW

Roy Pope's is an unpretentious, old-fashioned country grocery store located off Camp Bowie in a quiet neighborhood. It's small -- it has opted to forgo the pharmacy, hardware, and bank mega-store route -- but dense with appetizing ingredients. The meat and fish market includes duck, quail, veal, venison, orange roughy, salmon, and three types of caviar, including Beluga. The deli features homemade pies, soups, quiche, enchiladas, and an assortment of sides. The gourmet ingredients to the store include Dean and Deluca Sauces, Pasta Velente marinaras, a wide variety of oils from almond to olive to walnut, gourmet mushrooms, a large variety of nuts and mixes, and six pesto flavors including artichoke lemon, sun-dried tomato and sweet pepper, and roasted eggplant. The store also stocks Texas-based New Canaan jellies and salsas. There's a good wine selection to complement any meal and even pints of Marble Slab ice cream for dessert. This is definitely the place to shop the next time you want to fine dine in your own home.
