With candles softly flickering on red-checked cloth-covered tables tucked into dark-paneled booths, each hidden behind its own little archway, the Candlelite has been a romantic hideaway for UTA students and lovers of all ages since 1957 when it opened as a roadhouse outpost on Highway 80 serving up steak and spaghetti, wine and cocktails. They still do a damn good martini made the Nick Charles way: gin, a splash of Vermouth, and tiny cocktail olives. Simple.
