The best gifts are so frivolous, so far removed from the everyday drudgeries of life that buying them for oneself is almost unthinkable. The gift shop at the Modern's downtown digs is chock-full of such items -- including hand-painted Italian dishware, Wonder Woman-themed address books, and transparent dollhouses with miniature designer furniture -- all artfully arranged in a sunny space.

Earth Bones now has two Cowtown locations and has even ventured into Big D. Where else can you get lip gloss that washes away your sins and tastes like communion wine, or find incredibly funky jewelry for your toes and bellybutton? There's everything from unique cards to highly unusual candles to wacky t-shirts and sunglasses. Pace yourself, though, because this is one of those stores where you'll find very few things that you need but a whole bunch of stuff that you really want.
