When itching to shoot some stick, you must first define your shtick. Things to consider when shooting pool: location, bar scene, quality and cost of tables, and competition. Hustlers head to the pool halls. The rest of us should be grateful to shoot eight-ball at the Red Star, where Sunday though Thursday, all four tables are free, the competition is always casual, the bar is set for loading, there's a decent c.d. changer, and a television anchors every corner. No quarters are needed, and thankfully there's no high school garage band to transmute the atmosphere into a pseudo-bowling alley. And if the free pool doesn't grab ya -- did we mention there's foosball?
