All Night & Day has to say are the words "Jubilee Theatre" and "the blues," and people will come running. The Lowdown Man, Dirty Woman Blues celebrates music ranging from Bessie Smith to Etta James. The singing actors in the cast are familiar to followers of the downtown theater troupe, so count on them to raise the roof. The play runs Mar 14-Apr 14 at 506 Main St, FW. Tickets are $8-25. Call 817-338-4411.

Friday, March 15
John Ruskin was one of the Victorian Era's most distinguished art critics, but in 1854, he was at the center of a scandal. His wife (and first cousin) Effie fell in love with the painter John Everett Millais while he was Ruskin's houseguest for the summer, and her application for annulment contended that her marriage to Ruskin had never been consummated. The seamy details are all dramatized in Gregory Murphy's play, The Countess, which runs Mar 14-Apr 13 at Circle Theatre, 230 W 4th St, FW. Tickets are $10-30. Call 817-877-3040.

Saturday, March 16
Composed in 1935, Porgy and Bess was Gershwin's most ambitious work for the stage. Race relations have changed markedly since then but, if anything, the opera has gained in stature over the years. It betrays a few signs of the time in which it was written, but its musical portrayal of a Gullah community on Kittiwah Island is infused with humor and heart-stopping beauty. The opera runs Thu-Sun at Bass Performance Hall, 555 Commerce St, FW. Tickets are $29-78. Call 817-731-0833.

Sunday, March 17
The Texas Home & Garden Show makes its third annual appearance this weekend. From kitchen appliances and furniture to security systems and storm shelters to tips on cooking and gardening, this show has all manner of goods and services to make your living space a more enjoyable place. The show runs Fri-Sun at Amon Carter Exhibit Hall, Will Rogers Memorial Center, 3401 W Lancaster Av, FW. Tickets are $5-7. Call 713-529-1616.

Pilobolus Dance Theatre started as a course in Dartmouth College in 1971 and has grown into a company renowned for witty and highly innovative choreography derived from nontraditional methods and improvisation. Included in their concert this evening is a piece that was commissioned for the recently concluded Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. Their performance is at 8pm at Bass Performance Hall, 555 Commerce St, FW. Tickets are $21-78. Call 817-212-4280.

Tuesday, March 19
The Tuesday Night at the Modern lecture series returns this week after a spring-break hiatus. Artist Nancy Holt discusses the work she has done since the 1970s. Her huge sculptures and site-specific installations reflect her ongoing concern with public art and environmentalism -- her projects include a design for converting a 57-acre New Jersey landfill into a park, and a solar tower on the campus of the University of Southern Florida. She lectures at 6:30pm at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 1309 S Montgomery St, FW. Admission is free. Call 817-738-9215.

Wednesday, March 20
The Barnes & Noble store near TCU continues its four-part series of lectures on Islam. Today, TCU professor S. Brent Plate discusses the arts in the Islamic world. The region is heir to a grand tradition of pictorial art, and aesthetic endeavors have persevered in the face of censorship by even pro-Western governments. The lecture is at 7pm at 1612 S University Dr, FW. Admission is free. Call 817-335-2796.
