The Texas 500 is on Sunday, but NASCAR racer Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be in town earlier to promote his book, Driver #8. The much-loved driver details his tumultuous rookie year, the death of his father in an accident at Daytona, and his own subsequent first victory. (He will sign copies of his book, but not memorabilia of any kind.) Fans of "Little E" won't want to miss his appearance at 6pm at Barnes & Noble, 1217 Hwy 114, Grapevine. Admission is free. The TCU Latin American Arts Festival expands to Bass Hall this year. Roberto Minczuk, co-artistic director of the S‹o Paulo State Symphony, conducts the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra in Schubert, Villa-Lobos, and the local premiere of Edino Krieger's Passacaglia for a New Millennium. The eighth annual Spring Gallery Night focuses on works by new artists at 14 local galleries. The show is followed by the ArtiGras benefit for the Emergency Artists Support League, which moves from its usual location at the Modern at Sundance Square to the Southside Preservation Hall. The shows are 2-8pm at various locations in Tarrant County. Admission is free. ArtiGras is 7pm-midnight at 1519 Lipscomb St, FW. Admission is $25. While Shakespeare and his contemporaries were treading the boards in England, Spanish drama was going through a similar renaissance led by Lope de Vega and Pedro Calderón de la Barca. The latter's La Vida Es un Sueño, written sometime before 1636, inspired José Rivera's English adaptation, entitled Sueño. It's about a king who tries to fool his imprisoned son into thinking that life is only a dream, and it has a phantasmagoric power. Northeast Tarrant County dwellers who don't make it down to Fort Worth that often, or people who want to hear what Fort Worth Classic Guitar Society is all about at no charge, should take this opportunity Monday evening. That's when the Fort Worth Classic Guitar Quartet gives a concert as part of the Euless MasterWorks Series. The concert is at 8pm at Euless Public Library, 201 N Ector Dr, Euless. Admission is free. During their luncheon, the Arlington Christian Women's Club presents an opportunity to view the stained- glass project they are doing for New York City's firemen to commemorate their heroic actions last September. Continuing the Latin American Arts Festival into its second weekend, TCU Theatre puts on its production of La Llorona. Kathleen Milne's play, based on the ancient Mexican legend of the female ghost who cries in the middle of the night because of injustices committed against her while she lived, has been produced locally before.
