When people hear "chamber music," they usually think of string instruments, but there's no reason why those instruments should be the only ones to benefit from the intimacy of this form. The Philharmonic Winds play as part of the Hurst MasterWorks series, and their concert tonight includes a polka from Shostakovich's ballet The Golden Age and Greg Danner's 1988 piece Vaudeville!, which evokes the old music hall entertainment through the unlikely medium of a woodwind quintet. The concert is at 7pm at Hurst Public Library, 901 Precinct Line Rd, Hurst. Admission is free. Call 817-283-3406.

It may be the dead of summer, but real hockey fanatics are ready to lace up their in-line skates and take to the pavement when there's no ice. That's why members of the Fort Worth Brahmas have been touring the county giving clinics in skating, shooting, passing, stick-handling, and hockey strategy on streets and parking lots in the Blacktop Brahmas tour. Today, the tour stops at Old Navy, 868 NE Mall Blvd, Hurst, 10am-noon. Admission is free. Call 817-336-4423.

It's not often that movies being filmed locally post audition notices. It's still less often that they ask for four men who can speak Italian and for several female impersonators. Dave Stovall's low-budget comedy The Blue Saloon will be looking for actors with these qualifications, along with many others, so they're asking actors of all ages and physical types to come down. Auditions are 10am-6pm at 2300 W Freeway, FW. Admission is free. Call 817-919-7731.

What's better than horseback riding on a Sunday morning? Doing it for a good cause. That's why Wagon Wheel Ranch is organizing a fundraising trail ride to benefit St. Jude Children's Hospital. Your donation can earn you a ride or sponsor a child to go riding. The ride starts at 9am at Wagon Wheel Ranch, 816 Ruth Wall Rd, Grapevine. Minimum donation is $35. Call 817-481-8284.

While the Rangers continue to struggle, the New York Yankees just keep adding players -- last week, it was pitcher Jeff Weaver and outfielder Raul Mondesi. Who's the next player to be traded there for a couple of Class A middle relievers? Lance Berkman? Jarrod Washburn? Sammy Sosa? If the Bombers' next high-priced acquisition gives Bud Selig a coronary, it'll be worth it for non-Yankee fans. These two free-spending teams play a three-game series Mon-Wed at The Ballpark in Arlington. Tickets are $5-40. Call 817-273-5100.

There are people in Tarrant County and the surrounding areas (Parker, Johnson, Hood, Erath, Somervell, Palo Pinto, and Wise Counties) living with HIV or AIDS who have no access to health care. Northwest Texas HIV Planning Council wants to help them, but they need your help to design a program to reach these patients. That's why they're holding a community feedback session this afternoon. Your advice is welcome. The meeting is 3-5pm at All Saints Medical Center, 1400 8th Av, FW. Admission is free. Call 817-763-8501.

The new show at Arlington Museum of Art's mezzanine galleries is called F.I.M., named after the artists involved. Mary Foster's multimedia installations explore family issues through handwriting. Simeen Ishaque's site-specific installation uses shadows and veils, and draws on her post-Sept. 11 experience as a Pakistani-American. Adriana Martinez's ceramic works are inspired by parts of the human body. The show runs Jul 26-Aug 24 at 201 W Main St, Arlington. Admission is free. Call 817-275-4600.
