You may think you have enough to worry about with the still weak economy, global warming, and Sandra Bullock’s relationship status. Think again! Along comes the national non-profit conservation group Save the Frogs! to heap another helping of anxiety/guilt on your dinner plate. Their newest crusade is the elimination of frog legs from the American diet, and their target is Irving-based Uncle Julio’s Restaurants (they have a location on Camp Bowie, as you may know). Uncle Julio’s serves grilled gams from bullfrogs raised on Chinese farms, which some ecologists claim contributes to a dramatic depletion of amphibian populations around the world. April 30 is Save the Frogs Day, and activists have promised to picket Uncle Julio’s locations around the country. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that demonstrators will be wearing sad-faced frog costumes.

Its not easy being delicious.

So how are bullfrogs raised on Chinese farms contributing to the dramatic depletetion of amphibian populations around the world??!?!? wth?? I hope protesters show up to protest Uncle Julios. I’m gonna go and order frog legs and go out and eat them in front of the protesters.
