A new work of art is in my possession.

It was created on my windshield by the late, great, local artist Sleepy.

I was heading south on Jacksboro Highway this morning and saw a huge flock of pigeons on the side of the road not far ahead of me.

Just before my truck reached them, the pigeons suddenly flew up in the air — 100 birds were suddenly directly in my path.

Ninety-nine of the birds used their magical radar senses to spot my truck coming and they veered upward and out of the way.

But one slow pigeon, let’s call him Sleepy, didn’t veer fast enough.

His fat body (he must have weighed two or three pounds) slammed into my windshield with a thump.

The down on his white and gray feathers left a white imprint on my windshield. You can even see the distinct outline of a feather or two.
