Gov. Rick Perry’s brain freeze during a recent debate has some Americans questioning his mental capability to lead this country.

But in his defense, he did use the word “oops” correctly, according to this Slate column that traces the word back to its origin and meaning.

The word’s first printed appearance was in 1922, and was in reference to a goat. So it’s apropos that Perry used it.

  1. Oh Jeebus, please don’t let this spell the end of Rick’s campaign. The Republican primary show is the best reality series of the year. If it were on pay cable, I’d pay. And I think there’s another “debate” coming up tomorrow! Time to get more popcorn.
