The Dallas-Fort Worth Film Critics Association, of which I am a member, recently voted on the best movies of 2012. Today, they released the results of our vote, which includes acting awards and a new category for best movie soundtrack. Lincoln wound up snagging the top spot and a near-sweep of the acting awards. I’m not revealing my own picks yet, but I’ll say this much: Almost nothing that I voted for wound up being honored by my colleagues. It’s okay, actually. What good is it parroting the consensus every year? It’s good to have a year like this every once in a while. And my colleagues agreed with me about Life of Pi having the best cinematography.
