Well, it’s Friday evening. Time to cool down from writing and heat up with lawn mowing, fence mending and whatever else needs doing around here. That includes roof repair, finishing the redone bathroom, new carpet in the big living room, heck, you name it, we need it, and we can use all the help we can get so get on over here and volunteer. I’m a journo so I’ll plead poverty to get out of paying you, but I will keep you in really good food and tell you great stories while I sip some red wine and watch you work. That’s a reasonable offer from an unreasonable man. In truth, I’d rather you just pay for some pros to come and fix things, but I’ll settle for your sweat on my behalf. And the behalf of my kids, the dogs, cats, babies, grandkid–you know the deal.

I’m gonna go sit on the porch swing after I put a passel of neck bones in the oven for the dogs and chicken hearts in for the cats. That’s five pounds of neck bones for the four dogs. One is ours, the others have adopted us because they apparently like the menu. Yesterday they got stripped chicken breasts. Nothing fancy: A little garlic, salt, pepper and I walk away for an hour. If I don’t feel like cooking, I just eat the dogs’ chicken. Kidding.

When I come in, I’m making hamburgers for my daughter Madeleina and I, my wife/ex-wie Chepa, her two youngsters Sierra and Alexa, my sons Italo and Marco, Italo’s wife Sarah and my granddaughter, Taylor Rain. Sesame buns served hot, Mrs. Baird’s own, with sauteed sweet Bermuda onions, sliced tomatoes, pickles and their choice of ketchup, mustard, relish, mayo or Horseradish sauce.  Think I’ll make sides of steamed broccoli and fresh corn–the corn is very sweet and really good right now, so don’t overlook it at 4 for a buck.

Way I see it is: Some people are going crazy that I’m printing dinner menus and talking about my regular life on this blog. But I think I do enough investigating, reporting and publishing of good stories that I’m allowed to lay back on this blog now and then. Heck, if I don’t relax now and then, I’ll have a heart attack and won’t be able to go after the bad guys anymore.

I hope you all have a wonderful meal tonight. Nourish your souls.
