Tarantula Tiki Lounge (@Tarantula_Tiki) is going all out this Halloween. The retro-fabulous SoMa cocktail retreat is throwing one of the biggest parties of its kind in town 6pm Fri. With a vendor market and live music, Haunted Grotto Under the Sea offers a lot for a little: Admission to the 21-and-up shindig is free.
“We feel like our vibe is a little like Halloween all year round,” said Tarantula owner Autumn Brackeen, “so what better place to throw a holiday bash?”
Haunted Grotto will be Tarantula’s second Halloween concert/market. Last year’s was so popular, “we decided to make it an annual thing,” Brackeen said.
Dallas’ “Satanic” metalheads Daughters of Evil, garage rockers Prof. Fuzz 63, and exotica lovers the S.S. Castaways will perform starting at 7pm, and the vendors will include food pop-up Swizzle.
Courtesy of Planteray, Tarantula Tiki Lounge will feature the rum in such drinks as the Mai Time to Die, Ghoul Summer, and Creature Feature.
Haunted Grotto Under the Sea will take place inside the Tarantula and outside in the loading area of the nearby W.A. Powers building and the MicroPark alleyway. The outdoor bar will serve beer and THC beverages in addition to the signature Planteray Halloween cocktails.
“There’s nothing like Halloween with a tiki vibe,” Brackeen said, “and no one can catch that Halloween magic quite like we can.”
