According to some estimates, College Station attracts over 300,000 visitors over the holiday season. And at just over two and a half hours along I-35W and TX-6, it’s really not much of a schlep to enjoy some holiday fun.

Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving

Start your Thanksgiving morning the right way, by stretchin’ your legs and working off some pie before you even hit the table. The 14th annual BCS Turkey Trot at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center is a family-friendly 5K run or one-mile walk, and it kicks off at 8 am sharp.

Whether you’re runnin’, strollin’, or just cheering on the locals, you’ll be rewarded with tunes, HEB’s apple and pecan pies, and a cold one from Blackwater Draw Brewing when you cross the finish line. Perfect for families, friends, or anyone lookin’ to make Thanksgiving morning a little more active, and a lot more fun.

 

Feast at The Hilton’s Thanksgiving Brunch Buffet

If you’re looking to kick off Thanksgiving without slaving over the stove, the Hilton College Station has you covered with a brunch buffet on Thursday, November 27, from 11 am to 3 pm. Think all your holiday favorites, plus some gourmet twists, served up in a cozy, festive setting perfect for gathering with friends, family, or anyone who just loves food. Tickets run $45 for adults, $25 for kids 6–12, and little ones 5 and under eat free. It’s a stress-free, delicious way to start your Thanksgiving holiday in College Station with zero dishes to wash afterward.

 

Catch a Christmas Classic

Nothing says holiday cheer like a cozy movie under the stars, and College Station City Hall is rolling out the red carpet (well, the green lawn) for a festive Christmas Movie Night series. Pre-show festivities run from 5–7 pm, complete with food trucks, a hot chocolate bar, fresh popcorn, games, festive tunes, and kid-friendly fun.

There are films on throughout the holiday season, including:

November 29: The Grinch (2018)

December 5: The Santa Clause (1994)

December 12: A Christmas Story (1983)

December 20: Elf (2003)

Plus, you can snap a photo with the Grinch himself! Admission is free, and there’s plenty of parking at City Hall and the Visitors Center. Bring the whole family and get a jump on that holiday spirit – popcorn in one hand, cocoa in the other.

 

Shop, Sip, and Celebrate at the Holiday Showcase

If you’re looking to score some one-of-a-kind gifts this holiday season, mosey on over to the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History on Tuesday, December 2, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. for their annual Holiday Showcase. This free shindig features local artisans and authors selling beautifully crafted items—perfect for holiday gifts with a personal touch. Ask the artists about their work, sip some wine, nibble on hors d’oeuvres, and enjoy live music as you wander the museum.

While you’re there, check out the special exhibit The Brazos: Legacy of a Mighty River, featuring antique cameras, darkroom equipment, and stunning photography from 1850–1950. It’s a cool mix of history, art, and holiday spirit all under one roof.

 

Get Enchanted by The Nutcracker

Nothing says the holidays like The Nutcracker, and Ballet Brazos is bringing this beloved classic to College Station on Thursday, December 5, from 7–9 pm at Rudder Auditorium. Now in its 14th season, this show mixes professional guest artists (including stars from the New York City Ballet) with rising Texas talent and pre-professional dancers.

This year Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra will even perform live alongside the dancers. It’s a festive night of twirling tutus, dazzling sets, and music that will make your heart sing.
