Okay, here goes: It seems a US Airways flight bound for Charlotte, North Carolina from Atlanta had to return to the gate because maggots starting falling onto the heads of passengers from above. One traveler had thoughtfully tucked a container of rotten meat into the overhead bin. No one was injured, although presumably a few were traumatized.

Why am I forcing this gruesome “News of the Weird” bit on you? I could take the dignified route and say it’s some kind of statement on how airline travel has become a nerve-gnawing horror show. But the real reason is — life rarely imitates my favorite horror movies, and this story reminded me of that notorious scene (roughly 6:45) from Dario Argento’s 1977 classic Suspiria in which a group of dance students experiences a rain of maggots. Have fun!
