It’s crawdaddy season at MudBug Bash.

In Sweden, crawfish are generally eaten in late summer due to a tradition set by laws (which are no longer on the books) that were aimed at protecting the animals’ native populations. Fortunately, we don’t have to wait that long to enjoy the tasty little critters when 103.5 the FAN holds its annual MudBug Bash this weekend. Another thing we don’t have to do is drive to Dallas — the event was previously held in downtown Dallas’ Main Street Gardens, but for its fifth installment, the party is moving to Arlington’s Levitt Pavilion.

Besides 3,500 pounds of crawfish, the bash will bring in Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott for a special appearance — as a Louisiana native, the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year should know his crawdaddies. Rob Baird and Casey James will supply live music, and you can play carnival games and buy cold beverages, as well as crawfish to take home while supplies last, should you want to do them the Swedish way: boiled, marinated with dill, and served with hard cheese, pickled herring, and vodka or aquavit. Not that we’re complaining about Cajun crawfish in any way.

The MudBug Bash takes place 4-10pm Sat at Levitt Pavilion, 100 W Abram St, Arlington. Tickets are $20-35. Call 817-543-4301.
