Grant Randall Jackstad was a bartender at No Frills Grill (4914 Little Rd, Arlington, 817-478-1766) who died unexpectedly in February 2002 in an automobile accident. In his 24 short years, friends and family say, he touched everyone he met with his bright smile and fun-loving attitude. At the time of his passing, his family encouraged people to plant memorial trees in his honor. In the time since, his former employer has been hosting an annual event in his honor.

Starting at 11am, No Frills Grill will boil 2,500 pounds of live crawfish and serve it with Cajun sausage, corn, gumbo, new potatoes, and red beans and rice for the 13th Annual Grant Jackstad Memorial Celebration and Scholarship Fundraiser.

The cost is $20 per person, and it’s all you can eat until they run out, with proceeds going to the scholarship fund in Jackstad’s name. There will also be a silent auction, outdoor games, and a DJ spinning tunes.
