All Grown Up
Just because Fort Worth is all grown-up now doesn’t mean we can’t
acknowledge some of the better musical offerings of the last 365 days.
That’s what our annual Music Awards are all about. It’s a celebration,
bitches. These days, our Music Awards (the 21st time we’ve done this, by
the way) feel less instructional and more festive. You know, the kind of
thing a big city does.
I’m sure we missed a few bands, albums, and songs, but the list below
represents what we thought were the brightest spots of 2018. The ballot
will appear on our website 24/7 and run in the print version of our
paper over the next month starting this week. We’ll count the ballots
right up until the day after the Fort Worth Weekly Music Awards
Festival, which takes place 4-10pm Sun, Jun 24, at eight venues on the
Near Southside.
As always, the venues will be staffed by friendly volunteers selling
this year’s iteration of our annual compilation album for $5 a pop.
Featuring Abraham Alexander, Convoy and The Cattlemen, Peter More, Sur
Duda, and seven others, Frequencies, Vol. 9 was recorded live over two
days at Eagle Audio Recording Studio. Proceeds from the sale of the
album will benefit a worthy local charity to be named soon.
Good luck to all of the nominees, and thanks to everyone for voting. ––
