You’re probably tired of hearing about The Burning Hotels. I don’t care. They’re playing this Saturday at Barley House (5612 Yale St, Dallas, 214-824-0306) as part of a semi-unusual bill. Making up the non-unusual part are two longstanding and duly respected Dallas indie-rock bands, The Deathray Davies and The Drams, plus Big D-based singer-songwriter Taylor Davis. On the unusual tip are two tribute bands: Pepper Theft, a Dallas band that gleefully rips off The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Lizard Larceny, a Big D band devoted to thieving off, of all artists, The Doors. FYI, Jim Morrison had two noms de rock: Mr. Mojo Risin’ and The Lizard King, hence Lizard Larceny. The Burning Hotels’ new album, Novels, will be out soon. There are no Doors cover songs on it. Or any, for that matter.

Also on Saturday, the Joey Green Band will be joined by Fort Worth’s Phil Hamilton & The Back Road Drifters and Maypearl’s Clint Levi at The Aardvark (2905 W Berry St, by TCU, 817-926-7814).

And at the Ridglea Theater (6025 Camp Bowie Blvd, 817-738-9500) on the same night, there’s a show by Fort Worth metalists Addnerim and two Dallas bands: Saints & Saviors and Mitra.

Psychedelic-folk singer-songwriter Daniel Katsuk will be celebrating the release of his new EP, Skeleton Key, tonight (Friday) at Lola’s Saloon-Stockyards (105 W Exchange Av, 817-386-5008), with Fort Worth funksters The Phuss.
