What a difference a president makes.

Under President Obama, the Justice Department said today that people who toke the ganja or distribute weed for medical purposes “should not face federal prosecution, provided they act according to state law,” says this New York Times report.

Under President Bushwhacker, those same feds were busting medical pot growers and tokers — even in states such as California that legalized medical marijuana.

Pot is still classified as a dangerous drug in the same category as heroin and crack cocaine under ludicrous and outdated federal descriptions. Keep in mind that many of our presidents and top presidential candidates in the past couple of decades have admitted smoking marijuana.

It’s about time someone on the federal level started acting rationally. Thanks, Obama, for taking a step in the right direction.

This is a step up for Obama, who laughed off a serious question about legalizing marijuana in an online town hall meeting earlier this year.

  1. It would be more accurate to say:

“the policies **enacted by the Clinton administration**, which were continued under under President Bushwhacker…”

    That is, if accuracy matters…
