Two singing hopefuls were silenced on American Idol last night, leaving Cool Casey James as Tarrant County’s final hope.

Phone-in voters whittled finalists from 16 to 12, and Alex Lambert of North Richland Hills and Todrick Hall of Arlington were left behind. (Still, how sweet it is that three locals made it to the Top 16 out of 100,000 applicants nationwide.)

Hall took the rejection in stride and gave a rousing farewell performance.

Lambert was a dejected, listless mess.

Here’s their performances that preceded the lethal vote:

Duncanville’s Tim Urban over in Dallas County also survived the cut, so kudos to him as well.

American Idol lists James as being from Fort Worth, although he’s actually from Cool, a little town about 45 minutes west of here.

Fort Worth Weekly was the first to dub him in print as Cool Casey James, so if it sticks and becomes his stage name, I want credit when he writes his autobiography 50 years from now.
