For some compelling thoughts on Christmas and adulthood, check out our interview with SceneShop’s Steven Alan McGaw in this week’s ”Stage” section. SceneShop’s annual holiday revue A Fifth of Christmas takes place 8pm this Saturday (Dec 4) at Arts Fifth Avenue, 1628 5th Ave, FW. Tickets are $10.

McGaw also proudly informed me that SceneShop will be represented at Austin’s prestigious theater festival FronteraFest in January with a performance by Lost Beat Generation, an offshoot of SS headed by actor and theater grad student Nick Irion.

But back to alternative views of Christmas: If the whole chaotic season just annoys you endlessly, then Monty Pythoner Eric Idle has your back. If it leaves you dreamy and confused, then Seattle-based drag performer Dina Martina is your perfect holiday cocktail – check out her priceless versions of ”Angels We Have Heard on High” and ”Away in a Manger.” Dina never fails to cheer me up.
