I’m normally pretty apathetic about Valentine’s Day. (And yes, I thought it was kind of a fake silly “holiday” even when I was in a relationship). But if you’re going to mark the day, do it with a meaningful statement: The activist groups GetEqual TX and Marriage Equality USA will hold February 14 rallies in Fort Worth, Dallas, Austin, and Houston. The events are called “Request Marriage 2012,” and they’re designed to call (peaceful) attention to the serious injustice of denying same-sex couples the right to marry. The Cowtown event takes place 2pm tomorrow (Tue Feb 14) at Tarrant County Courthouse, 100 W Weatherford St, FW. Couples can bring the $71 to apply for a marriage license, which obviously will be denied. Wedding dresses and tuxes are a plus.
