Federal funds from the CARES Act were recently used to purchase a 119-unit extended-stay hotel in North Fort Worth that now provides wraparound services (mental health support, health care, nutrition, job training) to unhoused Fort Worthians. The housing community is managed by Fort Worth Housing Solutions (FWHS), the Fort Worth agency that provides decent, safe housing for low- to moderate-income residents. FWHS president Mary-Margaret Lemons gave us a tour of the new housing-first initiative and updated us on FWHS’ new development projects in the Stop Six community.
