When the SNAP shutdown left families facing uncertainty last year, Fort Worth Weird Moms (FWWM) stepped up to help their own. What began as a grassroots effort to make sure members could put Thanksgiving dinner on the table provided food for 25 families and 127 people. This year, the organization is bringing the program back.

Funded entirely by donations from fellow Weird Moms, the annual Thanksgiving food-assistance program turns generosity into practical, personalized support. Eligible

members complete a simple form sharing their household size and food preferences, while fellow members volunteer to shop for and deliver groceries directly to their door.

The program is open to members of the Fort Worth Weird Moms private Facebook group who have been part of the community for at least six months and are in good standing. The application process allows members to request assistance privately without having to share their personal circumstances publicly.

Fort Worth Weird Moms has always been about more than making friends or throwing a good party. It’s about building a community where people show up for one another in real, tangible ways. Last year, members helped feed so many people during a really uncertain time. That’s what this community looks like in action. We’re not just here to talk about making the world a better place. We’re here to do the work, starting with the people right

beside us.

Last year’s deliveries included turkeys, hams, stuffing, vegetables, rolls, side dishes, and other groceries requested by participating families. The impact didn’t come from a big institutional budget. It came from members contributing what they could and volunteering their time to help their neighbors enjoy a fuller holiday table.

The program reflects FWWM’s broader mission, which combines civic engagement, education, and advocacy with direct support for local families. Because sometimes

making the world a better place means showing up to advocate for your neighbors. And sometimes, it means making sure there’s a turkey in the oven.

Community members who want to support this year’s effort are invited to make a monetary donation. Every dollar will go directly toward purchasing groceries tailored to participating families’ household sizes, preferences, and dietary needs.

To protect food safety and help prevent allergen exposure, FWWM is accepting monetary donations only. Every contribution, large or small, helps put food on the table for local families. Those interested in donating can contact Fort Worth Weird Moms for details on how to
