THE PHIBS DO ANIMALS RIGHT.
THE 'PHIBS DO "ANIMALS" RIGHT.

This week’s “Stage” review of Amphibian Productions’ Animals Out of Paper – a Southwest premiere — can be summed up in one urgent sentence: Do not miss this terrific production. There are performances Thursday through Saturday night and a final matinee on Sunday. Rearrange your schedule, hire a babysitter, or just give the kid away – the performances by Laurel Whitsett as a frustrated origami artist; Marshall York as the awkward schoolteacher who loves her; and Andres Ortiz as a prodigy struggling with grief are penetrating and finely detailed.

To give potential audiences a taste of Rajiv Joseph’s play, Amphibian has filmed two Animals promos featuring the actors. Here’s one, and here’s the other.
